ABSTRACT

Purpose. Study of the influence of moisture on the structural integrity and operational properties of thermal insulation materials, determination of their resistance to wetting by assessing environmental safety based on the analysis of indicators of possible negative impact on the environment when using them in modern construction.

Methods. Experimental assessment of the resistance of thermal insulation materials to wetting was carried out by keeping them in an aqueous environment for a certain period of time with subsequent determination of changes in the mass, geometric parameters and structural state of the samples, analysis of the environmental safety of the materials was carried out by assessing their composition and potential ability to release harmful substances under the influence of moisture.

Results. As a result of the conducted studies, differences in the resistance of the studied thermal insulation materials to wetting were established depending on their structure and component composition. Changes in the mass and physical state of the samples after exposure to an aqueous environment were determined, which allowed assessing the level of preservation of their operational properties. The analysis of environmental safety showed that the studied materials are characterized by different levels of potential impact on the environment during prolonged contact with moisture. Based on the results obtained, a comparative assessment of thermal insulation materials was performed, and the most promising samples were identified that combine moisture resistance and environmental characteristics.

Originality. Consists in the systematization and scientific substantiation of approaches to a comprehensive assessment of the resistance of thermal insulation materials to wetting and their environmental safety. The features of changes in the physical state of materials under the influence of moisture were established and the relationship between moisture resistance indicators and environmental characteristics was determined. The approach to the comparative assessment of thermal insulation materials according to a set of operational and environmental criteria was improved.

Practical implication. The development of methods for effective assessment of the resistance of thermal insulation materials to wetting and their environmental safety allows a reasonable approach to the selection of materials for construction and industrial needs. The proposed approaches contribute to increasing the durability of building structures, reducing operating costs and minimizing the negative impact on the environment.

Keywords: thermal insulation materials, resistance to wetting, moisture degradation, operational properties, structural stability, environmental safety.
