ABSTRACT

Purpose. To study the objects of material and cultural heritage of European countries, where amber occupies a significant place in collection samples and artistic and jewelry products, to demonstrate the significance of these objects for the effective development of the amber mining and processing industry in Ukraine.

The methods. The work uses general scientific methods of research - empirical and theoretical (analysis, generalization, comparison, explanation, classification).

Findings. Successful activities and events that contribute to the awareness of the geological heritage and the development and deepening of the cultural heritage of amber by a number of European countries where it is mined are analyzed and shown. A special place here is occupied by landmark projects of a national scale, unique collection samples of amber stored in museums, and the museums themselves, especially those created exclusively for the popularization of this precious stone.

The originality. For the first time, successful marketing strategies for the development of the amber industry by the leading countries of the European Union, where amber is mined and processed, are considered. It is shown that they are based on representative objects such as museums, individual expositions of amber collection samples of national importance, international-level exhibition events, as well as on a number of activities and events that promote amber at the local level and consciously use the amber heritage in tourism, which in general allows us to consider certain regions as important links in the pan-European Amber Route. A classification of activities used in the promotion of the amber heritage has been created.

Practical implementation. The study of marketing strategies for the popularization of the geological and cultural heritage of amber in European countries where it is mined allows us to take into account their successful experience in deepening and developing amber culture both for local communities and for using the resources of the tourism industry. The types of activities we analyzed for the popularization of the geological and cultural heritage of amber are recommended for involvement in the practice of museums and exhibitions of amber samples from deposits in Ukraine.
